My website www.crankdrive.com takes a lot of time to load. On inspection, I found that 90% of loading time is taken by the images.

I checked some of the thumbnail present at the website (automatically created by the template from articles). I will explain by giving some example.

A thumbnail downloaded from my webpage to pc is abc.jpeg and is of 20 kb size (dimension x*y). Now if i open this thumbnail in MSpaint and then save it by renaming extension as .jpg instead of .jpeg, the size reduces to almost half i.e 10 kb without any change in quality or dimension.

So my issue is somewhere it seems that thumbnail created takes more space than it should and should be compacted without changing dimensions but DONT KNOW HOW.

can you pl help in compacting the images so that loading time can be mproved ?

Dear SA Supporter,

If I say that loading time is more, that means in comparison to competition websites. If an average site with same amount of content takes 6-7 sec to load, my website takes 12-13 sec.
(I use pingdom to check loading time)

As per my concern, if we can reduce image size by half of all the thumbnails, we can reduce loading time by half. So is it possible that the way thumbnails are created, it should create it as .jpg instead of .jpeg . It is just my guess that it will reduce image size of thumbnails.

Any idea how to do it ?
