I'm not what I changed, but for some reason full articles (items) display without modules in other positions on the same display page... only the article (item) displays. When a reader clicks "read more" I want them to see the article (item) with modules such as facebook / twitter streams, advertising, etc. just like they show in categories screens.

Here's the module layout I would like to see when an article is displayed ->

Click on any of the articles (items) to see that the modules no longer show. How do I configure them to show in the full article screen?

I think you need to assign theses modules for Glenn Eldridge category.

The category screen is fine, but when you click on "read more" for an item (article) from the category screen, the modules to the right of the full item (article) no longer display.
