Is there a way to make the publish date with clock bar on articles more translucent?

The "category, published date and hits" bar is obscuring the top few lines of each article - see attached screenshot - is this a bug? Is there a way to fix this, i.e. turn off or control the location of this information?

For some reason - I can't seem to add a .jpg file!!
