Hi,

I was editing some of the mod_footer.ini files in the en_gb languages folders to remove the Joomla copyright information and replace with my own text.

The output on the front end worked fine and the footer displayed correctly. Only recently I have noticed the footer is non-existent. I attempted to create a footer module then could not find a module position named 'footer', only one called "main-bottom". To no avail this did not work (as expected).

Could this be looked into for me? I would like to know where I went wrong for future situations.

I should make it clear that I was only removing the joomla tagline. The smartaddon copyright was untouched.

I purely edited the core files for testing and learning purposes.

Would it be possible to determine any troubleshooting methods for fixing the footer?

I replaced the mod_footer and left_main_right.xml layout files with the original core files from the package and since regained my footer.

I did this after I tried changing the default template layout and when I changed it to left_main I realised I may have accidentally tampered with the core file left_main_right.xml.
