With the guys using old version of VM (<2.0), there are two options for them. One option certainly is updating to the latest version, we mean the VM 2.0.x, now 2.0.6, so they can inherit all the new features from it, including compatibility with Joomla! 2.5. But this option is not good if it requires rebuilding modules inside?
VM 1.2 release
Thank to some geeks from VM team, now there is very NEW version of VM that not only continues the old code base of VM 1.x but also is compatible with Joomla! 2. 5. The VirtueMart 1.2 is actually 99% identical to the present VirtueMart 1.1.9 edition, not 100% simply because it is created for Joomla 2.5. If you have websites along with plenty of categories, products, product attributes, product types, customer orders, custom themes etc, and don't want to update to the VM 1.2 version, then this is right for you.
But most importantly, this is an unofficial edition! That means it's not supported by VirtueMart team. For those didn’t wish to update to VirtueMart 2.x, this VirtueMart 1.2 version really is an angel venture, good but with risk.
